Li
(Managing Director)
I have been lucky enough to work in this amazing community for over 15 years, in my role as the BASC Director and as a School Learning Support Officer, supporting children in the classroom. During this time I have seen our centre grow from just 15 children per day to up to 200. Despite being a large service we aim to create a home like atmosphere where all children feel they belong to a big family. I love being able to provide children with exciting, meaningful experiences where they can learn through play, develop positive self-esteem and discover their unique identities all while having fun! I am passionate about wellbeing, inclusion, sustainability & the natural environment, and love nothing better than connecting with children over afternoon tea, an art activity or a game in the sun. I am so grateful to work in such a supportive
Benni
(Coordinator)
Hi I'm Benni, I have been part of the BASC community for two awesome years and have recently been lucky enough to join the leadership team and help run the service behind the scenes. Before joining the team, I worked in local health food cafes where I developed my passion for cooking and developing delicious, healthy recipes. You'll often find me in the kitchen bringing the kids ideas for afternoon tea to life, getting messy in arts and crafts like in our slime making activities or participating in nature play with the kids in one of our outdoor environments. I am currently studying a diploma in school aged care and education which has developed my passion for supporting children in gaining knowledge about the world around them and developing positive self identities and relationships through play.

Alongside other work such as hospitality, I have been nannying regularly for 8 years, driven by my passion for looking after kids. I study Psychology and Philosophy at The University of Sydney, and hope to work as a Child Psychologist in the future. I am so excited to meet you all, and hope to make the transition into big school as comfortable and enjoyable as possible!
Woody
Hi! My name is Woody and despite popular belief I was not in Toy Story. I have recently left the world of advertising to join the teaching profession and am in my first year of my education degree. When i'm not studying or being referred to as a kids movie character i am in the surf or skate park pretending like i'm a teenager again. My family has been a part of the Bondi community since the 50's when my grandad opened up a pharmacy on hall st so i'm really enjoying the opportunity to give back to a community that has given me so much. Val
Hi there, my name’s Val and I’m lucky enough to be one of the year 1 educators for 2021–my second year with this incredible group of kids! I spent a good few months last year backpacking up the coast, learning how to scuba dive, skateboard, play the ukelele and talk to pretty much anyone. But I have to be honest...I missed my job! I love working with kids because everyday they teach me a little more about perseverance, kindness, and how to have fun. My personal focus as an educator is on making sure that kids feel they are being heard, whether it be a concern, a suggestion, a joke, or something they did on the weekend. I believe that active listening is the key to boosting someone’s self-confidence.

Hey! My name is Jarrah and I only recently started working at BASC at the beginning of term 3, 2020. Since working here I have had the most amazing time and realised how rewarding working with children can be. Getting to know all the kids different personalities and interests has brought a smile to my face everyday I’m at BASC. I am currently studying exercise physiology at USYD, and have a passion for sports. I have played soccer all my life and love getting involved in a soccer game on the top field with the kids. Since working at BASC I have developed many connections with both the children and staff here and can’t wait to continue to grow as an educator as I support the kids throughout their schooling adventures. I’d love to meet you all, so come have a chat :)

Arran
Hey! I'm Arran and I'm the Inclusion Support Officer at BASC. I arrived at BASC around the same time the current year 2s started kindy and have had the pleasure of working with them ever since. While initially I was studying psychology, BASC soon swayed me and I found myself transferring to primary education. I'm really passionate about developmental psychology (which helps in my inclusion role), as well as the ocean, having grown up in Bronte in a family of keen ocean-swimmers. I love getting to know the kids as well as their amazing families so please feel free to approach me any time.
